This one is quite unusual, it has no inlays but it has finely carved flowers to frieze which correspond to 3 cabriole legs…. The top is veneered in fine quality burr walnut of rich and deep colour… it is a fine piece with original interior and in good proportions. This attractive Victorian work table would be fantastic addition to any interior, modern of antique.

Arts and Crafts hall stand

September 14, 2012

Arts and Crafts was an international design movement that flourished between 1860 and 1910, especially in the second half of that period. It stood for traditional craftsmanship using simple forms and often applied medieval, romantic or folk styles of decoration, showing joints and construction. This late Victorian hall stand is a fine example of the furniture of this period. Simply constructed using only traditional methods instead machines and high quality oak with attractive rays- grain make this arts and crafts hall stand fine and elegant furniture which suits and hall way.

Art Nouveau….

September 13, 2012

The name “Art Nouveau” is French for “new art’’ and it was most popular between 1890 and 1910. It was inspired by natural forms and structures, not only in flowers and plants but also in curved lines. In Nimbus Antiques collection of antique furniture you can find several, very attractive pieces from this period but this Art Nouveau, gilt console tale with mirror is just immaculate! There it is fine example of nature like carvings
and decoration….Also the shape of glass… is very ‘natural’

In Great Brittan Art Nouveau style developed from Arts and Crafts therefore is very common to see arts and Crafts furniture with art Nouveau inlays like on these fine cabinets….

There is nothing like this on internet. ….. the top is of serpentine outline with moulded edge…. And it sits on 2 supports which are fixed to the wall…. These legs are finely carved and as shown on this photo… the maker even carved the detail which is not seen, features like this are proof of quality and high standards. We are very pleased to add this stunning and very elegant, solid marble console table to our collection of antique furniture.

Victorian card table

August 28, 2012

Last week we restored this fabulous card table. It has superb burr walnut top with fine satinwood string inlay to centre and ebonised mouldings. The top swivels and unfolds reviling baize game surface and it has satinwood string inlays to inside too. Top inlays are reflected in frieze all around. The top needed some repairs therefore we had to repolished it, but frieze and legs are in original condition. The legs are also stunning, they have brass decorations and ebony inlays with really fine satinwood stringing going parallel. This is a superb antique table of very decorative appeal.
